Week-1 Drawing

I was very excited about today’s class as I have always loved painting. Through painting we can express our feelings that no words can.

What comes to your mind when you first listen to the name Vincent Van Gogh? ‘The starry night’ right? But there was so much more to him than just his pretty paintings. In today’s class we saw a movies about Van Gogh- Loving Vincent. This movies taught us how Vincent started painting? How much dedicated he was towards his work? How he came to be one of the greatest artists in the entire world? Most importantly, how he died? The whole movies was made using Vincent’s technique of small, tiny strokes. The whole movies was hand painted. When I saw the movies I realised that Van Gogh’s life was not as beautiful as his paintings.

When we were first asked to make a painting using only charcoal and small and broken strokes, I thought that it would be very easy, However, as we started painting our composition I figured out that it is a lot more difficult than it looks. Exploring and learning a new technique was a lot of fun.
