We were taught how to effectively depict a dress with a model. The faculty traced a model’s gesture from a magazine and used the same to illustrate the wearing of the model. Limited lines are sufficient to represent the body’s motion as well as the overlapping fabric.
It is important to keep in mind that there is a certain flow to the frame under the cloth when illustrating the image and the clothes react accordingly depending on the material.
While drawing the figure we have the liberty to exaggerate features and make the the model slimmer. The proportions of the body should be kept in mind while slimming down the figure.
