Week- 1 Integrative Seminar

The class started with us revisiting what we did in the last semester. There were a lot of discussions which followed, well it was a lot for our class.

Malvika highlighted 3 things that we will be concentrating on during this semester. Critical thinking, imagination, Creative writing. We are to find out what these words mean and derive a definition based on our understanding.

Critical thinking consists of analysing and evaluating, in order to form a judgement. It is just careful thinking directed to a goal. It is very different from thinking. Thinking is baseless whereas critical thinking always ends with a conclusion.

Imagination is a creative process done consciously or unconsciously by the brain. It is the formation of ideas, concepts, situations, images etc. While discussing imagination we established that everyone imagines something which doesn’t exist, something that isn’t present to our senses. However, imagination is not about adding tadka to dal

Creative writing is simply a way of communicating the result of critical thinking and our imagination. Both activities go on in our mind, we need a medium to express it so that it can be conveyed to another person.

Critical Thinking > Imagination > Creative Writing
It is a cycle. All these go hand in hand with each other.

Towards the end we were asked to write up something about our bedroom.
